The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program. More than 2,800 accredited institutions of higher education award credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams. There are 35 examinations and all are available at Edison State College, although Edison does not award credit for all available exams. The current college catalog should be consulted for Edison State College minimum passing scores and course equivalents.

CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. Taking a CLEP exam can shorten the time it takes to earn your degree and can allow you to skip general introductory courses. CLEP exams can reduce the number of courses you need to take to graduate, saving hundreds of dollars in tuition.

How do I register for the CLEP at Edison State College?

• Edison State College is a limited site for CLEP. Only currently registered students at Edison or through the University Center can take the CLEP exam at Edison State College.

• Each CLEP exam costs $77.00 plus the Edison State College $25.00 nonrefundable administrative fee. The $25.00 fee must be paid at the Cashier’s Office, S-113, and be presented at the time of registration.

• Submit the Registration Form found on the CLEP web site or in the Assessment Center packet with the receipt for the administrative fee to the Assessment Center, Areca Hall, P-207.

• Separate registration forms and receipts must be submitted for each testing date. You must bring your credit card with you on the day of the exam. EDISON IS A CREDIT CARD ONLY SITE.

• Due to an increased volume in CLEP testing and limited spaces available, it will not always be possible to honor your first choice for testing dates and/or times. YOU WILL ONLY BE CONTACTED IF YOUR FIRST CHOICE OF DATE OR TIME CAN’T BE HONORED.

• On the day of the exam, bring your Admission Form, two forms of identification (one of these must be a photo ID), your Social Security #, and a credit card. You must bring your credit card with you on the day of the exam in order to sit for the CLEP exam.

• CLEP exams are administered on the Fort Myers Campus in the Assessment Center, Areca Hall, P-207, and at the Hendry/Glades Center.

• Students must arrive on time. CLEP is a timed exam, late arrivals will not be accommodated.

Can I register through other campuses?

Yes. To register through the Charlotte, Collier, or Hendry/Glades locations, you will need to complete the Registration Form. You must pay the $25.00 administrative fee at the Cashier’s Office located on each campus. The Registration Form needs to be returned to the Cashier’s Office on that campus.

The CLEP Registration Form and the administrative fee receipt must be received at the Fort Myers campus no later than the 4:00PM on the Friday prior to the exam date.
