Edison College - CLEP Testing Information

The College-Level Examination Program or CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. Taking a CLEP exam can shorten the time it takes to earn your degree and can allow you to skip general introductory courses. CLEP exams can reduce the number of courses you need to take to graduate, saving hundreds of dollars in tuition.

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program. More than 2,800 accredited institutions of higher education award credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams. There are 35 examinations and all are available at Edison College, although Edison does not award credit for all available exams. The current College Catalog should be consulted for Edison College minimum passing scores and course equivalents.

Registering for the CLEP at Edison College

Complete the Registration-Admission Form found on the CLEP web site or in the Assessment Center, Areca Hall, P-207. EDISON IS A CREDIT CARD ONLY TEST SITE.
Pay the non-refundable $12.00 Assessment (administrative) fee at the Cashier’s Office, Taeni Hall, S-113.
Submit the Registration-Admission Form and Reservation Form to the Assessment Center, Areca Hall, P-207. Separate registration forms must be submitted for each testing date. Present the receipt for the Assessment (administrative) fee for each testing day. You must bring your credit card with you on the day of the exam.
Due to an increased volume in CLEP testing and limited spaces available, it will not always be possible to honor your first choice for testing dates and/or times. You will only be contacted if your first choice of date or time can not be honored.
On the day of the exam, bring your Admission Form, a photo ID and second ID, and SSN#.
CLEP exams are administered on the Fort Myers Campus in the Assessment Center, Areca Hall, P-207, and at the Hendry/Glades Center.

Edison College Can I register through other campuses?

Yes. To register through the Charlotte, Collier, or Hendry/Glades locations, you will need to complete the Registration-Admissions Form and the Edison CLEP Reservation Form found on the last page of the packet. You must also pay the $12.00 Assessment (administrative) fee at the Cashier’s Office located on each campus. The registration form needs to be returned to the Cashier’s Office on that campus. You will not be allowed to test if you do not have your credit card.

All CLEP Registration-Admissions forms, Edison CLEP Reservation forms, and payments must be received at the Fort Myers campus no later than the 4:00PM on the Friday prior to the exam date.
