As interim President of the Collier County Campus, I am pleased to be part of such a dynamic campus, where our students are shining examples of determination and success. We are here first and foremost for our students, so we work hard to create and maintain an atmosphere that encourages them to develop the necessary leadership and thinking skills to succeed in today’s global market. It never ceases to impress me the caliber of students we have here. Our Student Government Association, for example, consistently receives local, regional, state and national recognition for their initiatives working with government leaders, and their constant involvement within our community.
Our graduates are prepared to make a positive and immediate impact within our community. They are nurses, paramedics, police officers, business professionals and more.
Later this year, what began as a dream and color drawings will be a beautiful reality as we open two new buildings on our campus: the Allen & Marla Weiss Health Sciences Hall, and the Student Services building. These buildings will have state-of-the-art classrooms that will further serve to give our students the best possible, hands-on, educational experience. Additionally, these buildings are being constructed under the guidelines of environmentally friendly practices, and both will earn a LEED certification as a result.
Since opening our Naples doors nearly 40 years ago, we have formed several key partnerships that are good for our community, and most of all, for our students. We have partnered with the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve to give students the chance to learn beyond the classroom with hands-on research opportunities. The dental school on our campus is the result of a partnership with the University of Florida and the Naples Children Education Foundation. We received unanimous approval from the Collier County School Board to establish The Edison Collegiate High School – Collier. In addition to their high school diploma, students would also have the opportunity to simultaneously earn an associate degree.
We are poised to continue offering even more opportunities for those who want to open new career doors. We offer 10 Bachelor degrees, and numerous Associate Degrees and professional certifications. Our classes are on campus and online.
