Developmental Studies Centers

The Developmental Studies Department offers learning assistance to students who are enrolled in Developmental Mathematics, Developmental Writing and Developmental Reading through the Academic Success Center (ASC) located in building H. The ASC is also available to students enrolled in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. In the ASC, instructional assistants provide tutoring and help with course assignments and conduct periodic workshops to provide further guidance on course-based topics. Instructional assistants also aid students in assessing their current academic needs and direct them to supplementary materials for self- study, including instructional software, leveled readers, books on CD’s, worksheets, textbooks, and Mastery Exam  practice materials.

The Academic Success Center also offers general computer access where students can use the Internet and specialized programs designed for their courses.

College Prep

Ed Long III Oren Alvarez Jr.

Q: How did developmental courses prepare you for college credit courses?

A: Developmental courses have not only been more than helpful, but have shown me that someone who has been out of college for 6 years can succeed.

Q: What is the most important thing you learned from your College Prep courses?

A: The relationship between students, teachers, and other staff are more than helpful to new students.
