College Prep Centers

The Developmental Studies Department offers learning assistance labs to students who are enrolled in Developmental Mathematics, Developmental Writing and Developmental Reading. The labs are also available to students enrolled in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. In the Developmental Studies labs, instructional assistants provide tutoring and help with course assignments and conduct periodic workshops to provide further guidance on course-based topics. Instructional assistants also aid students in assessing their current academic needs and direct them to supplementary materials for self- study, including instructional software, leveled readers, books on CD’s, worksheets, textbooks, and Mastery Exam  practice materials. The Developmental Studies labs also offer general computer access where students can use the Internet and specialized programs designed for their courses.

College Prep

Testimonials

Amanda Torres Amanda Torres

Q: How did developmental courses prepare you for college credit courses?

A: Developmental math helped me understand the basic math skills I lacked and later helped me succeed in my college-level math courses.

Q: What is the most important thing you learned from your College Prep courses?

A: I learned that practice makes perfect, there was a considerable amount of work to be done, but without it I wouldn’t have learned as much as I did.
