Q. Why does Edison State College Foundation need to raise private dollars?
A. Since 1966, the Edison State College Foundation has played a major role in providing educational opportunities to area students. Although Edison State College receives funding from the state and local levels, private donations from the community are vital in assisting the Foundation with providing scholarships, constructing new facilities and increasing the level of excellence the College is able to offer to students through enhanced academic and instructional support.
Q. Is the Foundation seeking pledges?
A. Yes, pledges enable contributors to realize optimal tax savings and to make a more significant investment in Edison College than might be possible with a one-time cash donation. The Foundation accepts pledges over a five-year pledge period. All investments will be gratefully received and properly acknowledged.
Q. What are the Foundation's major areas of interest?
A. The Edison College Foundation actively supports the long-term plan of Edison State College by providing scholarship support, instructional support, and facilities support. Specific examples include, but are not limited to: technology enhancements and upgrades; endowed chairs of academic excellence; support of capital projects; improvements to further enhance student accessibility; tuition, book and child care scholarships.
Q. How will my contribution be used?
A. Your contribution to the Edison State College Foundation will support the College's commitment to providing quality education at a reasonable cost. If you prefer, your contribution may be designated for a particular purpose, fund or campus.
Q. In what form may donations be made?
A. Donations may be made in the form of cash, securities, personal property or other designated pledges. We urge donors to discuss investments with their tax consultants or financial advisors, as well as with the Foundation Staff, to determine the kind of donation that will best suit their personal circumstances and most benefit them as well as the college.
