Primary Targets for Grant Funding for 2008 - 2009

HOPE SCHOLAR PROGRAM – Funding to underwrite operational and staffing expenses for current program as it is now organized. 

Decade of Promise Goals: 
1.1.1 Strengthen education opportunities across the district
1.1.6 Respond to results of surveys and other student input for purposes of improvement
2.1.1 Attract more students directly from high school
2.1.3 Meet equity goals, concentrating on retention and success of minority students.
2.1.2 Implement specific retention strategies targeted to address associate degree completers. 
2.1.6 Develop stronger K-16 learning and career pathways.
Desired Sum: $50,000
Resource Needs: Firm statistical data and testimonials spanning the last decade.

HEALTH TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS -- Funding to support proposed program expansions, including
Sonography or Medical Imagery and Diagnostics, Medical Lab Technician, Health Information
Technology (Medical Records), Environmental Science, Graphic Design, Continuing Education. 
            Decade of Promise Goals:
1.1.1 Strengthen education opportunities across the district
1.1.2 Provide programs addressing workforce gaps identified through regional needs assessments
Desired Sum: $3,000,000
Resource Needs:  Affirming data on community needs, success rates of graduates.

TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS – Funding for developing and operating programs designed to train teachers,
including personnel costs, curriculum and program development, recruitment and retention of students and scholarship initiatives.  
Decade of Promise Goals:
1.1.7 Expand Edison State College BAS enrollment by 5% per semester
2.1.1 Attract more students directly from high school. 
2.1.6 Develop stronger K-16 learning and career pathways.
Desired Sum: $350,000
Resource Needs: Good partnerships with K-12 school districts, faculty involvement.
