Lesson 8: Search by Author


Select “Author” in the “Search by” box to find works published by a particular author. Simply enter the author’s full or last name in the search field. You don’t have to enter the author’s name in any particular order. For example, entering Sylvia Plath or Plath Sylvia will retrieve the same results.

Search Tips

• You do not need to use punctuation, such as commas
• You do not need to capitalize your search terms
• Use Boolean operators to make your search more precise. To find works by more than one author, or authors who have pseudonyms, use OR. To find works written by an author with a common name, use NOT.
• You can search by Exact phrase by selecting yes below the “Search by” search field
