JEWELRY & METALSMITHING
Students will learn the basic techniques of Metalsmithing and jewelry design which includes layout, sawing, piercing, filing, soldering and finishing. Demonstrations will be given by the instructor to familiarize the student with the proper techniques involved in developing each of these primary skills. A Beginner’s Kit with the required tools will be available from the instructor on the first day of class for $90.00. Sterling silver sheet and wire will be additional. For advanced students wishing to expand their knowledge of design development and add to their repertoire of metalsmithing techniques, instructor will assist in exploring new techniques such as stone setting, surface embellishment, chasing and repousse, etching and more. This 6 week class runs from March 22nd to April 26th from 10am to 1pm or 6pm to 9pm. Cost is $140, plus Materials.
MOVIE EDITING – INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
Students who have completed Movie Editing for Beginners (or those with basic video editing skills in iMovie or Moviemaker, and subject to approval by instructor) will continue their mastery of the artistic and technical elements of movie editing and cinematic storytelling with FINAL CUT PRO 7, and advanced software for MAC. Students must have Macintosh laptops with Final Cut 7 software and bring them to class each week. Students may bring in their own footage to cut, but all students will be required to upload footage provided by the instructor for classroom and homework use. This 8 week class will be held on Tuesdays, March 20th to May 8th, from 2:00-5:00pm. Cost is $290.
CPR- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER
This one day course is geared towards the interests and needs of the health professions students and taught by healthcare professionals. It offers a two year certification at completion of the course, which is required for healthcare students and healthcare workers. Upon completion of the course, students will receive their AHA (American Heart Association) Card. Our next class runs on Friday, March 23rd, from 3pm to 6pm, OR Saturday, March 31st, from 9am to 12pm. Cost is $70 and includes textbook in PDF format.
ACCENT REDUCTION CLASS
Ever wonder what others think of your speech and voice? This course is custom designed for Spanish to English learners to enhance the clarity of their speech, vocal melody and expressiveness, and confidence in speaking to others. It is not a course to learn the language, but rather a course to learn to fine tune your speaking ability in American English. Class is limited to 12 students; each student receives an individual speech evaluation. Class is held on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm for 5 weeks, starting March 27 to April 24. Cost is $225.
SCULPTING WITH FABRIC AND PAPER- STANDING FIGURE
This class is an exercise in paper/textile/and natural fiber sculpting using Paverpol, a textile hardener just recently introduced in the U.S. Students will design and construct and embellish an abstract figure. The completed sculpture may be properly sealed for displaying inside or outside. This new medium from Holland is sweeping the USA and its many artist communities. The creative possibilities are endless. Glass, paper, canvas, wood, pottery, foam, cotton, natural fibers and metal can be used with the hardener. This 2 week class will be held on Saturdays, March 31st and April 7th, from 9am-12:30pm. Cost is $100. There is also a $35.00 Beginners Kit you will need to obtain from the instructor the first day of class.
