June 5th to July 19th-
CREATIVE WRITING
The creation of the short story is both a challenging and rewarding process. It requires hard work and an open mind, as well as an honest desire to achieve a satisfying product. The purpose of this class is to learn techniques and strategies for writing short stories. This class is open to both the experienced writer as well as the novice. This 8 week session will be held on Tuesday’s from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Cost is $140.

June 6th to August 1st -
POTTERY WHEEL THROWING FOR BEGINNERS
This is the class to learn the basics of Wheel-thrown pottery. The beginning potter will learn to prepare the clay to work on the wheel and learn the basic skills of centering and throwing bowl, cylinder and plate forms. This 8 week class will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Cost is $180.

June 8th 3pm to 6pm-
CPR- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER
This one day course is geared towards the interests and needs of the health professions students and taught by healthcare professionals. It offers a two year certification at completion of the course, which is required for healthcare students and healthcare workers. Upon completion of the course, students will receive their AHA (American Heart Association) Card. Classes run every other Friday from 3pm to 6pm or 1 Saturday per month cost is $70 and American Heart Association materials.

June 16th to July 21st-
EVERYDAY SPANISH FOR MEDICAL CAREGIVERS
Have you ever had difficulty communicating with a patient who speaks another language? It is difficult to communicate through language barriers in everyday situations, and can be even more frustrating and potentially life threatening in medical situations. The medical staff in hospitals, and outpatient offices are the frontline when treating patients. We would like to help you overcome these barriers. Edison State College is now offering a 5 week, 15 hour Spanish for Medical Caregivers course. Learning everyday medical terminology in Spanish can eliminate medical errors and improve both the patients and caregivers experience. This course will help you develop your language skills to, obtain basic information and history about the patient,Perform physical assessment including vital signs, Prepare patients for surgery or other procedures, Administer medications and injections, Assist and interact with the patient’s family Reduce patient fears and increase their understanding of the care options they have, Honor patient’s requests, Assist in emergency situations, and Perform routine procedures. Class is held on Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon.

June 19th to July 24th -
SPANISH IS FUN - BEGINNERS
This Spanish conversational course will enable students to learn in a fun way. You will learn vocabulary, grammatical rules of Spanish, and how to employ both when speaking the language. You will learn gender, the conjugation of both regular and irregular verbs, and the reading and writing of simple sentences. Classes run for 6 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 8:30pm cost is $165. Textbook not included.

June 20th to July 25th -
SPANISH IS FUN – INTERMEDIATE
This Spanish Conversational course picks up where the beginners class ends. Provides more conversational skills in an interactive classroom environment. Students will master typical day to day conversational needs like, ordering dinner in a restaurant, getting directions, asking questions. Classes run for 6 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8:30pm cost is $165. Textbook not included.

June 21st to July 26th -
SPANISH IS FUN – ADVANCED
The Advanced Class is directed towards gaining a greater competency in the spoken language. This class is conducted in Spanish only environment and immerses the students in the spoken language. Classes run for 6 weeks on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8:30pm and cost is $165. Textbook not included.
