Community Conversations - Lee County School District |
Submitted 03/08/2011
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools in partnership with The News-Press Media Group and WINK-TV is launching a new initiative called “Community Conversations”.
The mission of these forum-like conversations is to educate the community through factual information on important issues related to education, as well as gather input from the community on what we want we want for our school district.
The first conversation will be held at Edison State College, Lee Campus on March 24th, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
The first topic to be addressed is “School Choice vs. Neighborhood Schools”. This is an ongoing issue of concern for many people in the community, and the goal is to shed light on this issue through factual information and different viewpoints. The conversation will include a panel with moderator Lois Thome of Wink-TV. A Q&A session with the audience will conclude the conversation.
We truly hope to engage our community on this topic, and look forward to the initial forum. Audience feedback will be given to the School Board of Lee County for review, our local legislative delegation, as well as the Superintendent of schools. The goal of this Community Conversation is to educate and include our community as decisions are made regarding our school district.
To RSVP attendance to the initial forum, please email Gerri Langelier at Gerri@leeschoolfoundation.org or call 239-337-0433. Please register early as space is limited.
