Edison State College's Theatre program presents Larry Larson & Levi Lee's hilarious and irreverent comedy Some Things You Need to Know Before the World Ends (A Final Evening with the Illuminati) directed by Stuart Brown.

The play is set in a bombed-out church in some not-so-distant future. The Reverend Eddie, a pill-popping evangelist, prepares his final sermon, while battling the paranoid, hallucinatory whispering of his arch enemies, the Illuminati.

Reverend Eddie's hilarious monastic rants veer from pugilism to petulance all the while oddly familiar as echoes of contemporary, rabid cable television pundits. Providing a foil to the paranoid, egotistical, Reverend Eddie, is the ever credulous Brother Lawrence, a childlike, sweet-tempered, hunchback formed in the twisted mold of Quasimodo.

The play launches a fulsome assault on misguided religiosity and offers a mirthful but potent warning about the dangers of faith gone wrong.
