Other new officers chosen during the recent election are Jackie Helble, vice-president; Elana Lamparello, treasurer; David Arnsdorff, recording secretary; Theresa Cherry, public relations secretary, and Nicol Freeman, historian. Dr. Christy Gilfert is the Charlotte PTK advisor.

The purpose of the Alpha Tau Eta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, is to promote scholarship, development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students. To be eligible for membership, a student must complete a minimum of twelve hours of associate degree course work and generally earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. They must continue to maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment in the college.
