MAKING THE DOCUMENTARY
Basics of writing, producing &/or directing; study documentaries, participate in an in-class documentary, & develop a working plan for your own documentary.

MOVIE EDITING FOR BEGINNERS
Study basic movie editing and storytelling. In iMovie import footage, organize and trim video, add photos, music, effects, etc.

SCREENWRITING FOR BEGINNERS
Analyze classic Hollywood movies, learn storytelling conventions, master basics screenplay writing (screenplay format, cinematic structure, movie concept, characterization, dialogue, story, plot and theme, “selling your script”). Complete the first 30 pages/act 1 of a screenplay.
Materials provided by the instructor. You need a home computer or laptop & internet access.

Work 1-on-1 with a professional movie producer. Learn technical & aesthetic basics of digital moviemaking. Students work as a film crew to produce one or more final short films.
