Simple Steps for Starting a Business
This comprehensive series of 8 three hour classes, designed for the nascent entrepreneur, will help the student test a new business idea and get him or her started on the right path to business success. It consists of a combination of lectures, in class discussions and homework assignments.
To register call 941-637-5669. Course Cost $125. No textbook is needed as the instructor, Gene Mongiardini, will provide materials. Classes will be held at the Charlotte Campus.
Saturday, October 22:
Evaluate your readiness to start and run a business.
Saturday, October 29:
Define your business idea in detail.
Saturday, November 5:
Evaluate the market for the product or service you propose to sell and prepare a plan to market the product or service should you decide to go ahead.
Saturday, November 12:
Consider what legal form you would choose for your business and how you would handle other legal and tax issues.
Saturday, November 19:
Develop an understanding of how businesses are financed and how business finances are managed.
Saturday, December 3:
Consider what facilities, equipment and staffing the business would require and develop an understanding of human resources issues.
Saturday, December 10:
Learn how to prepare a Financial Plan for a business.
Saturday, December 17:
Put all of these parts together in a Feasibility Assessment Document. Completion of the document will entitle you to receive a Certificate of Completion for the course. Meet your SCORE mentor at this class.
Post Graduation - Step 9:
Work with your SCORE mentor to:
•Make a go/no go decision based on your Feasibility Assessment.
•If it is a go, convert the Assessment to a Business Plan.
•Pursue outside financing.
•Obtain ongoing advice as you launch and run the business.
