Introduction to Microsoft Office Word 2007
This 6 week course is a general overview of the Microsoft Word program. Word processing techniques using a personal computer (PC) will be taught. Techniques include the creation, editing, formatting, saving and printing of word documents. Students must have a general understanding of the personal computer, keyboard and mouse. This course meets Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm starting October 26th to December 7th. Cost is $145.00.

Screenwriting for Beginners
Beginning students will review Hollywood‐produced screenplays and watch and analyze classic Hollywood movies in order to understand screen storytelling conventions and master the basics of professional screenplay writing. Topics covered include proper screenplay format, cinematic structure, movie concept, characterization, dialogue, story, plot and theme, and a section on “selling your script.” Students will complete the first 30 pages(act one) of a screenplay by the final class. This course meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:30pm for 6 weeks starting October 12th to November 30th. Cost is $260.00.

Jewelry Metalsmithing for Beginners
Beginners will learn the basic techniques of metalsmithing and jewelry design including layout, sawing, piercing, filing, soldering and finishing. Becoming proficient in these skills is essential to the creation of well-made jewelry. Demonstrations will be given by the instructor to familiarize the student with the proper techniques involved in developing each of these primary skills. This course meets Thursdays from 10am to 1pm or 6pm to 9pm for 6 weeks starting October 13th to November 17th. Cost is $140.00.

Calligraphy for Beginners
Students in this class will learn the elegant and very graceful Copperplate or English Roundhand style
of script lettering most often seen in wedding magazines and high end advertising. The class is comfortably paced and is highly recommended for beginners as well as those with some experience wanting to improve their writing. We will begin with the basics, such as tools and materials, then progressively learn upper and lower case letters, as well as numbers. Students will be using dip pens and ink. This course meets Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm for 6 weeks starting October 13th to November 17th. Cost is $160.00

CPR- Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider
This one day course is geared towards the interests and needs of the health professions students and taught by healthcare professionals. It offers a two year certification at completion of the course, which is required for healthcare students and healthcare workers. Upon completion of the course, students will receive their AHA (American Heart Association) Card. Our next class runs from 3pm to 6pm on Friday, October 14th, cost is $70.

Moving Editing for Beginners
Beginning students will learn both the artistic and technical elements of basic movie editing and cinematic
storytelling. Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible for advanced editing courses in Final Cut Express and/or Final Cut Pro. Our next class runs from 1:30pm to 4:30pm on Friday, October 14th to December 2nd, cost is $70. Students must have Macintosh laptops with iMovie software and bring them to class each week.


Digital Movie Making for Beginners
Beginning students will work one‐on‐one with a professional movie producer to understand the technical and aesthetic basics of the digital moviemaking process from concept to completion. Students will collaborate as a film crew in the production of one or more final short films. Our next class runs 6 weeks on Fridays from 10am to 1pm starting October 14th to December 2nd, cost is $260.
