CPR- Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider
This one day course is geared towards the interests and needs of the health professions students and taught by healthcare professionals. It offers a two year certification at completion of the course, which is required for healthcare students and healthcare workers. Upon completion of the course, students will receive their AHA (American Heart Association) Card. Our next class runs from 3pm to 6pm on Friday, December 2nd, cost is $70.
NURSE REMEDIAL COURSE
The Nurse Remedial program is an intensive program of didactic hours and clinical experiences meant to prepare or update nurses who wish to return to the nursing force. This program is also approved by the Florida Board of Nursing for remediation of the nursing graduate who has not been successful with the NCLEX-RN exam. Lectures, home studies, skills lab and acute hospital clinical experiences are provided in a relaxed atmosphere to promote learning. Orientation begins on January 7th at 8:00am followed by a skills lab and 5 weeks of clinical held on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 7pm at the Lee Campus. The course is held from January 7th to February 26th, the cost is $1,600.
MAKING THE DOCUMENTARY
Students interested in writing, producing and/or directing documentary films will be introduced to the basics of documentary-making in this eight week course. Students will watch and study documentary films of varying styles and participate in the assembly of an in-class documentary using interview, radio and video footage and other print research materials. Class is held on Tuesdays starting January 10th to February 28th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Cost is $290.00
MOVIE EDITING – INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
Students who have completed Movie Editing for Beginners (or those with basic video editing skills in iMovie or Moviemaker, and subject to approval by instructor) will continue their mastery of the artistic and technical elements of movie editing and cinematic storytelling with FINAL CUT PRO 7, and advanced software for MAC. This 8 week session will be held on Tuesday evenings from 2pm to 5pm starting January 10th to February 28th. Cost is $290.00.
SCREENWRITING FOR BEGINNERS
Beginning students will learn both the artistic and technical elements of basic movie editing and cinematic
storytelling. Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible for advanced editing courses in Final Cut Express and/or Final Cut Pro. Our next class runs from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on Wednesdays, January 11th to February 29th, cost is $290.
JEWELRY METALSMITHING – BEGINNERS
Beginners will learn the basic techniques of metalsmithing and jewelry design including layout, sawing, piercing, filing, soldering and finishing. Becoming proficient in these skills is essential to the creation of well-made jewelry. This course meets Thursdays from 10am to 1pm or 6pm to 9pm for 6 weeks starting January 12th to February 16th. Cost is $140.00.
OPHTHALMOLOGY ASSISTANT PROGRAM
The Ophthalmology Technician Program provides the student with the opportunity to become a trained technician who will be well placed for positions in the Ophthalmology practices in Lee and surrounding counties. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on January 17th to May 5th from 5:30pm- 8:30pm at the Lee Campus. The cost is $1,050.
