Edison State College uses the Florida College Entry Level Placement Test (FCELPT) as its entry placement test.  FCELPT is used to determine placement in English, mathematics, and reading courses.  Testing is considered an essential part of the college program.
  • Placement Testing is required for all degree-seeking students, certificate-seeking students, high school students in Accelerated Programs and Veterans.
  • Non-degree-seeking students planning to take English, mathematics or entry-level foreign languages must also be tested.
  • Students must complete and turn in an application for admissions to the Office of the Registrar prior to testing.  Processing time for applications is 24 hours.Students are required to take the Placement Test or submit a full set of ACT-E or SAT-R scores or college transcripts.
  • Edison accepts scores for the SAT-R and ACT-E tests taken within the previous two years.
  • Students that previously attended another college or university may also bring in an official or unofficial transcript for evaluation.

Students may get more information about testing requirements by contacting the Assessment Center on each campus and at the Hendry/Glades Center:

Specific Information for Accelerated Program Students:

If you have never taken either the ACT-E or SAT-R exam or if your scores are below the college cut-off, then you will need to take the Florida College Entry Level Placement Test (FCELPT). You will only be able to retest once on the FCELPT while still enrolled in high school.

In order to stay enrolled in any of the accelerated programs (except early admissions), all of your test scores will need to be at college level in all areas (English, Reading, and Mathematics) by the time you have accumulated 12 credit hours.
