
Dr. Harrel, Head of the School of Education and Founding Principal of the Edison Collegiate High School at Edison State College has served as Discipline and Department Chair and was instrumental in developing the first baccalaureate programs in Education at ESC. Prior to joining Edison State College as a faculty member, Dr. Harrel served as an adjunct instructor, a public school teacher, an educational consultant and has served on countless advisory boards to support education in South Florida.
Currently, Dr. Harrel serves as a lead member of the accreditation team for the National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education, as well as, a program review and accreditation specialist for the Florida Department of Education’s University and College system. For the past four years, Dr. Harrel has served in the appointed role as Vice Chair for the Diocese of Venice School Board. In 2009, Dr. Harrel was appointed by the president of the national Association of Teacher Educators to serve on the legislative committee for teacher preparation. She has a background in curriculum and instruction, leadership and organizational change management.
Dr. Harrel’s educational and parenting workshops have been presented and implemented across the State of Florida. She has presented at dozens of workshops and conferences across the United States. With more than 60 publications in print and a broad array of multifaceted experience in the k-20 education system, Dr. Harrel provides strong leadership and tremendous passion for Edison’s State College’s growing education programs.
