The SGA (Student Government Association) is the students’ voice at Edison State College. SGA influences a host of campus issues that are directly relevant to students. Want to play a part in actually shaping the campus? SGA is the place to begin.
SGA meets each Tuesday (except the last Tuesday of each month) in S-117 at 12:30 pm. Meetings usually last less than an hour, and are a time that allows students to become aware of issues, activities, and projects on campus that affect them. All students are invited. For more information, contact our SGA Office in S-102, at SGAlee@edison.edu.
What else do we do? Quite a bit, actually. Here’s a taste:
- Workshops
- Senators
- Conferences
- Service
- Civic Responsibility
SGA Leadership
Crystal Perez
Student Government Association President
Hi everyone, my name is Crystal Perez and I was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. I come from a Hispanic background, specifically the Mexican culture which I believe helped me relate to a wide range of students here at Edison State College (ESC). I graduated from Estero High School on June 2010 and I have been attending ESC since the summer of 2010. My career plan is to obtain my Master’s Degree in Nursing and work as a Nurse Practitioner specialized in Midwifery. I started my college experience as a H.O.P.E. (help one person excel) scholar and a member of SSS (student support services) looking for a chance to get involved. Once I did, doors spread wide open and opportunities flew my way. Before taking my position on the SGA E-board I was a part of AASA, LASA, senator of SGA, CAB, and Intramural sports. I will now be serving the E-board for SGA as Executive Vice President and hope to open doors for many other students just like it happened to me. My goal is to make SGA shine brighter than it already does and make students feel as comfortable as can be. I am a friendly, charismatic, honest person who loves to smile so if you have any questions please feel free to come talk to me!
Daisy Casas
Student Government Vice President
My name is Daisy Casas, and this will be my second year at Edison State College. I graduated class of 2010 from Estero High School and started college that same summer as part of a Hope Scholar. I am currently working on an Associate’s degree and prerequisites for the Dental Hygiene Program. Besides Hope, I am also part of the Honors program. I was part of Student Government last year as a Senator and will be serving as the Legislative Vice President of Student Government this year. One of the characteristics I admire the most is perseverance. Try your best at every single thing that you set your mind to and you will be on the road to success. I enjoy reading, watching a good movie, going to the gym, going out to eat, and helping others.
Cindy Souverain
Student Government Secretary
Hi everybody, my name is Cindy Souverain and I was born in Naples and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. I am of Haitian decent and have family living Haiti today. I graduated from East Lee County High School June of 2010 and I have been attending Edison State College since the fall of 2010. My career goal is to be a Social Worker and I want to specialize in family counseling. Before taking my position on the SGA E-board I was a part of AASA (African American Student Association), Rotaract, and senator of SGA, and I also got involved with CAB (Campus Activity Board). I now work with the E-board of SGA as secretary and hope to help open doors for students just like me. My goal is to help make SGA shine more than it already does, while organizing our meetings and events to make students feel as welcome as possible.
