Meet Your Executive Board

Ivan Guerrero

Student Government Association President
Ivan GuerreroThe name’s Ivan Guerrero and I am proud to be your new SGA President. My goals in office are to provide a welcoming environment for students foreign and familiar, communicate the will of the students to the administration, establish a mascot with student input, and launch Edison State College (ESC) as more than just a college but a memorable experience.

While I was born here in Fort Myers, Florida I was raised in Brownsville, Texas and am Mexican. I graduated in 2005 from Rivera High School but didn’t follow the traditional college transition after high school. However, a yearning grew inside me to pursue something much more meaningful, and with the support of my family I applied at ESC and was accepted. In the spring of 2010 I began college and immersed myself in the extracurricular aspect of clubs where I found my passion. I joined many clubs including the Creative Writing Club, AASA, LASA, Rotaract, SGA and CAB. These clubs helped spur my enthusiasm and, with the aid of Professor Cynthia Enslen, to create a new club called Talking and Listening Klub (T.A.L.K.) and lead them to great heights. This leadership role has helped cultivate a strong sense of direction and motivation for me. While I’ve finished my Associates Degree here at ESC in the spring of 2012, my journey continues as I undertake a Bachelor’s in Supervision and Management. I’ll be the voice of, you, the student body and keep your best interests in mind while serving as President of SGA. My door is open to all, so visit me and introduce yourselves.

Leticia Gil

Student Government Executive Vice President
Stephania Romulus

It’s a pleasure to introduce myself my name is Leticia Gil. I have the honor to serve and represent Edison State College as your 2013-2014 Executive Vice President for Student Government Association.
I was born in Mexico and moved to the U.S when I was young to attain a better future.  With my family’s encouragement, I was able to graduate from Fort Pierce Westwood High School in 2005. Soon after high school, I began attending Indian River State College. However, I embarked on a new journey in 2010 moving to Fort Myers, FL. I began attending Edison State College (ESC) and soon found myself wanting to immerse myself in extracurricular activities. I became a member of the Latin American Student Association (L.A.S.A) as well as the Talking and Listening Klub (T.A.L.K). By staying focused and dedicated to my schooling I’ve had the honor to graduate with an Associate in Arts degree. Today, I’m continuing my education and pursuing my Bachelors degree in Supervision and Management. My future aspiration is to enroll in the Arts Institute and obtain a degree in Interior Design.
I look forward to working with the new Student Government Association Council. My goals in office are to encourage student leadership, inspire students to become more involved with on-campus activities while vowing to provide new and exciting events on campus.
I urge you to enrich your college experience by joining a club, participating in an intramural sport or becoming an active volunteer. Remember opportunities are everywhere! Please feel free to stop by the S.G.A office with questions or concerns, I’ll be glad to help!

Juan Idarraga

My name is Juan Idarraga. I’m a freshman here at Edison Sate College (ESC). So far so good, making history as the first in my family to seek an education after high school. I’m the eldest of four, meaning I have to set higher standards in order to be an exemplary role model to my siblings. I graduated from Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, but played football at Golden Gate High. It was a blessing for me to not only receive a high school diploma but also a technical degree in Dental Assisting. I volunteered for Dental Outreach of Collier County. (D.O.C) This organization is a non-profit, and we treated people from Saint Matthews House. They do a lot to get them back on there feet and get them to be a productive citizen. We give them a sense of confidence, so they can face the world and their future employers with an optimistic smile. I volunteered for this organization my junior, and senior year of high school. This journey had a positive impacted on the patients, as well as myself.  I’m continually developing strong characteristics to distinguish myself. I’m currently enrolled at ESC to obtain an Associate in Arts degree. ESC has given me numerous opportunities to enhance my learning and take on new leadership roles. Being my first year in college, I’m taking each day as a learning experience. The mantra that I live by is when you’re asked to build a wall, one should not enter the mindset of building the biggest, longest, or tallest wall ever. You start with laying the first brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid, doing this every single day will bring forth this wall (Will Smith). With my sense of discipline and consistency I plan to continue my education. My future goal is to pursue a Bachelors degree in Biology at the University of Miami.
