Testing Services

The Testing Centers for Edison State College provide testing services for students at each of the four Charlotte, Collier, Hendry Glades, and Lee locations. Testing is a critical part of student progression. It is the mission of each Testing Center to provide a comfortable, secure testing site in order to facilitate this progression.

The following testing services are provided by Edison State College. Check each location for testing services offered and hours of operation:

Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) is used to determine placement in English, mathematics, and reading courses. Visit our P.E.R.T Testing Information page for placement testing requirements. Edison Online (Distance) testing services are available on all campuses and at the Hendry/Glades Center.  Testing locations, hours, and procedures are on the Edison website at https://www.edison.edu/online/testing.php

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Placement Test is used to determine placement for students whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from a US High School. Students may be required to take the English proficiency test before PERT placement testing is administered. For more information visit the English for Academic Purposes website.

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program. More than 2,900 accredited institutions of higher education award credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams. Edison State College minimum passing scores and course equivalents can be located in the current college catalog under “Degree Acceleration Programs.”

Please complete the Edison State College CLEP Schedule/Registration form. This form is required as part of the registration process.

HESI is a standardized examination used nationwide by nursing schools to assess college level knowledge in the areas of biology, anatomy and physiology, math, vocabulary, reading, and grammar. The score of this exam is one of the three categories used to compute admission scores for the Entry Level Nursing Program and the Advanced Placement Nursing Program. The Mobility Exam may only be taken by students applying to the Advanced Placement RN Bridge Program.


The Mobility Test is required for the May 15, 2014 Nursing Transition Program Application Cycle. The following applicants must complete the Mobility test with a minimum passing score of 72% prior to applying to the Edison Transition Nursing Program:
  • Paramedics
  • Respiratory Therapists
  • Cardiovascular Technologists
  • LPN’s who earned their license greater than 5 years ago (2008 or earlier)
  • LPN’s who took completed an LPN program outside Lee, Charlotte or Collier County

Effective August 2014 (2014-2015 academic year), the Mobility Test will no longer be required.

Edison State College charges the fees listed below for Testing Services:

College Placement Testing - P.E.R.T. (for other Florida Colleges) $25.00
HESI Exam $65.00
Mobility Exam $70.00
Test Proctoring (for other Colleges or Universities) $40.00

Fees may be paid at any Edison State College Cashier’s Office.
A receipt of payment must be presented to the Testing Staff prior to testing.
